Everybody loves watching movies; it’s one of those things you can do to relax, and enjoy yourself. The cinema, then, can be one of the best and most enjoyable places to be in, until you come across someone who doesn’t know that there are some unwritten rules in place. These are the things you shouldn’t do when inside a cinema.
•Ask all the questions
To be fair, there are times when you couldn’t hear what the main character said, or you sneezed and realize you just missed a major reveal, so you have to ask your friend what happened. But if you ask all possible questions while the movie is playing (i.e. “Who’s that?” “Why are they fighting?”), you’re going to annoy everyone in the cinema. Just watch the movie, and all your questions will be answered.
•Put your phone on maximum brightness
We get it! Sometimes, you have to check your phone. You could be waiting for an important text, or seeing if your parents are wondering where you are, and it’s fine to glance at your phone every now and then, but PLEASE, make sure that your phone’s brightness is on low so that you don’t blind the people behind, and beside you.
• Put your feet up on the chair in front of you
It’s perfectly acceptable to get comfortable in the cinema; just try not to get too comfortable. You are, after all, still in a public place, and not at home. Do not, under any circumstance, put your feet up on the chair in front of you! It’s very rude!Think of the people who will be sitting on that chair in the next showing!
• Spoil the movie
It’s fun to discuss the movie right after you’ve finished watching, but make sure not to do it as you’re walking out of the cinema and when there’s a queue of people lining up for the next showing. Spoilers are horrible, and you don’t want to ruin the movie for others. (Imagine if you found out that Darth Vader was Luke’s father before you saw The Empire Strikes Back!)
Remember, the cinema is fun, but make sure that it’s not just fun for you, but for everyone else as well.
