josh duhamelSince the founding of John Robert Powers in 1923, the courses we offer have boosted a range of talents into the limelight. We love to share their success stories as it shows our alumni have gone on to achieve their dreams. One of our most well-known students, Josh Duhamel, is a prime example. Josh attended programs at the Sacramento branch of John Robert Powers in California, and has since become a high-profile Hollywood actor.

Now aged 41 and living in Brentwood, California, Josh Duhamel first ventured into the entertainment industry as a model. Incredibly, he won the title of Male Model of the Year in a 1997 international competition – and the runner-up was Ashton Kutcher! Following this achievement, Josh began his acting career as an extra, appearing in music videos.

Josh Duhamel’s superb acting talents were finally spotted by ABC in 1999, when he was asked to appear on the soap opera ‘All My Children’. His performance as Leo du Pres over three years received critical acclaim and he was awarded the Daytime Emmy Award in 2002.

Another big acting role followed in 2003, with Josh playing the character of Danny McCoy on the NBC series ‘Las Vegas’. This casino-based show ran until 2008, during which time the flourishing actor began simultaneously filming for the biggest job of his career so far; the Transformers movie series.

Three hugely popular movies later and Josh is riding high on a wave of success, appearing on American talk shows such as The Ellen Show, The Tonight Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live. What’s next for the John Robert Powers success story that is Josh Duhamel? With his huge acting talent and some of the biggest film makers behind him, there is no telling where Josh’s talent could take him.
